Dunham’s Sports is seeking a Retail District Manager to lead and direct the activities of all stores within the district, including full profit and loss responsibility, while acting within the scope of company objectives and policies to accomplish district and regional goals.
This position will cover stores in Central Michigan to the west side of Detroit.
DUTIES/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Analyzing district sales results and trends to achieve sales increases and maximize sales
Maintaining good inventory mix and merchandise presentation to maximize sales results in each store
Proactive recruiting and selection of associates
Controlling payroll hours, conducting store audits
Monitoring all aspects of inventory shrink throughout the district
Maintaining high level of customer service within the district through personal interactions with associates and customers
Training and developing hourly and management associates within assigned district
Fair administration of human resources policies & practices
Achieving district annual sales that meet or exceed company targets
Effectively planning and executing company objectives
Protecting company assets through expense controls and working with loss prevention
Identifying and developing new business opportunities
Consistently and effectively communicating district, regional and company priorities
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Demonstrated results-oriented leadership
Extensive understanding of retail and business operations and fundamentals
Demonstrated record of achieving performance goals and objectives
Financial analysis skills sufficient to interpret operating statements and other financial reporting data, manage budgets, and control inventory
Demonstrated ability to produce desired results by leveraging resources, maintaining expense control, managing merchandise effectively, and defining and communicating clear expectations
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
Demonstrated strong interpersonal and leadership skills including a propensity to consistently provide superior customer service, the ability to react appropriately under pressure, and the ability to apply good judgment in ambiguous situations
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others to achieve objectives
Proficiency in using Excel, Word, and Outlook
WORK EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION:
Five+ (5) years retail management experience with progressively more responsibility, managing multi-unit operations in retail, grocery or convenience store operations with full P&L responsibility
Bachelor’s degree preferred
“Big-box” retail management and/or equivalent education and experience combination will be considered
