Purpose of position
The Retirement Plan Consultant (RPC) will be responsible for the day-to-day management of an assigned caseload of client plans with a focus on smaller, less complicated plans.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesSingle point of contact and ownership for assigned clientsProvide support to Senior Retirement Plan Administrators and assist in training of Associate Retirement Plan AdministratorsProvide support to financial advisors and referral sourcesAbility to accurately interpret and apply plan document provisionsEnsure compliance with DOL and IRS requirementsAnnual compliance testing for assigned clients (402(g), 415(c), 410(b), ADP/ACP, Plan Limits, Top Heavy, etc.)Preparation and filing of Form 5500 and related schedulesPrepare projected and actual employer plan contribution calculations using all types of allocation methodsAssist clients with locating missing participants and securing ERISA bondingRequired Minimum Distribution (RMD) determination and processingEnsure proper coordination and delivery of annual required noticesRepresent the company on client calls and in client meetings, as neededHave a working knowledge of custodian websites and processesReview of Associate Retirement Plan Administrator work for assigned clientsSupport the retirement plan implementation, conversion, de-conversion and termination processesOversee plan assignments of a minimum of 40 to maximum of 110
Requirements
Competencies RequiredUnderstand requirements for QDRO supportUnderstand new comparability concepts and general testingUnderstand basics of control and affiliated service groupsUnderstand MEPs, non-qualified plans, DB and CB plan conceptsHigh Proficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteDemonstrated excellence in written and verbal communicationMust be detailed and possess strong organizational skillsTime management focused adhering to deadlines and timelines
Education and QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED requiredBachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferredMinimum 2 years of experience in a financial services operation’s environmentASC knowledge strongly preferredBroad knowledge of the retirement plan industry, willingness to obtain ASPPA QKA designation or NIPA equivalent
