Safety Manager

The Safety Manager is responsible for all aspects of employee, product, and public safety. This position will oversee employee behavior in both the warehouse and on route and implement policies to ensure a safe work environment. This position will report directly to the President of the company.

Responsibilities

• Daily monitoring compliance with safety procedures and SQF certification requirements.
• Ensure all E-logs are up to date and all drivers are following FMCSA rules and regulations.
• Monitor claims for Worker’s Compensation and Auto Liability Insurance.
• Monitor all Driver safety systems including Drive Cam and GPS.
• Develops safety procedures for all areas of the company.
• Engage with departments to address safety concerns.
• Develops and implements inspection policies and a schedule of routine inspections.
• Prepares training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
• Draft inspection reports to document inspection findings.
• Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
• Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste as required.
• Represent the company for all government violation issues.
• Attend conferences/seminars to maintain an understanding of safety trends.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
  
  

Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required.
• Five years of related experience preferred.
• SQF Certified or willing to become SQF certified within six months of hire.
• Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
• Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Proficient in technology and equipment used in warehouse inspections.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to function well in a high-paced environment.
