Responsible for promoting a organization culture that prioritizes safety in all aspects of work performed by cultivating safety initiatives, analyzing accident trends, developing policies and training to reduce accidents and injuries. Responsible for investigating accidents and customer complaints regarding property damage.
Salary: $24.08 - $29.93/depending on qualifications

Responsible for promoting a organization culture that prioritizes safety in all aspects of work performed by cultivating safety initiatives, analyzing accident trends, developing policies and training to reduce accidents and injuries. Responsible for investigating accidents and customer complaints regarding property damage.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Observe employees on the job for safe/unsafe activities and recommend disciplinary action(s) for continual unsafe behavior.
- Provide suggestions on improving unsafe behaviors and council employees as needed.
- Review, write and develop training and tailgate meetings material. Conduct training as necessary, including conducting monthly safety trainings that present timely and relevant safety topics.
- Continuously evaluate department safety status and develop requisite safety policies and procedures.
- Determine probable causes by reviewing and recording accident scenes, interviewing witnesses and compiling reports.
- Interface with citizens to resolve problems and/or discuss property damage.
- Collect, aggregate and analyze safety data to identify trends and propose remedial actions to address or reduce trends.
- Plan, coordinate and chair Safety Review Committee meetings to review accidents and injuries.
- Serve as department’s health and Commit to Wellness (C2W) liaison to Human Resources Department.
- Manage issuance of personal protection equipment and uniform apparel to staff in accordance with department policy and budgetary constraints.
- Collaborate with Risk Management Department on various safety-related topics and actions; partner with other city departments, outside agencies and professional organizations to advance the quality of the city's safety programs.
- Four year college degree
- 3 years related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Education/ Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Safety Administration, Industrial Hygiene or related area of study
- 3-5 years experience in safety administration or similar field
- Extensive knowledge of current safety practices
- Comprehensive knowledge on properly investigating accidents
- Skill in Microsoft Office including Excel, Access, Outlook and Word
- Skill writing procedures, policies and memos
- Skill developing constructive training programs
- Strong prioritization and presentation skills
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with managers, co-workers and citizens
- Ability to make ad hoc decisions
- Certified Safety Professional preferred
- OSHA General Industry and Construction Certification preferred
- American Red Cross or other CPR Instructor Certification preferred
- DOT Workzone Instructor Certification preferred
- Defensive Driving or other driver safety instructor certification preferred
- Valid Class C Texas driver's license
