Safety Specialist
UES is looking to add a Safety Specialist to its Houston location. This position monitors workplace activities to promote and ensure employee compliance with applicable safety regulations. This position requires a bachelor's degree in safety or a related field, or a combination of certifications and experience. This position requires a person who can keep a clear head in crisis situations and can help foresee potential safety hazards and apprise fellow employees and management of how to avoid them. A proven safety leader with a positive attitude and a mind for safety is a must!

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems
- Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards
- Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates
- Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations
- Inspects safety equipment; recommends replacements
- Drafts and implements internal safety standards and policies
- Reviews accidents and incidents reported by employees and visitors to the facility
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Perform incident investigation to determine root cause and generate corrective actions
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Occupational Safety and Health (preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in safety is required
- Proficient in MS Office and ability to learn internal databases
- A valid Texas driver license and acceptable driving record
- CSP Certified Safety Professional (highly preferred)
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction required
- OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER with 8-Hour refresher preferred
