Safety Specialist

UES is looking to add a Safety Specialist to its Houston location. This position monitors workplace activities to promote and ensure employee compliance with applicable safety regulations. This position requires a bachelor's degree in safety or a related field, or a combination of certifications and experience. This position requires a person who can keep a clear head in crisis situations and can help foresee potential safety hazards and apprise fellow employees and management of how to avoid them. A proven safety leader with a positive attitude and a mind for safety is a must!

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems
• Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards
• Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates
• Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations
• Inspects safety equipment; recommends replacements
• Drafts and implements internal safety standards and policies
• Reviews accidents and incidents reported by employees and visitors to the facility
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Perform incident investigation to determine root cause and generate corrective actions
  
  
  
  

EDUCATION And/or QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Occupational Safety and Health (preferred)
• 5+ years of experience in safety is required
• Proficient in MS Office and ability to learn internal databases
• A valid Texas driver license and acceptable driving record
  
  
  
  

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• CSP Certified Safety Professional (highly preferred)
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction required
• OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER with 8-Hour refresher preferred
