Job Purpose

This position helps to promote Wana Brands and Jetty Extracts by managing Wana/Jetty sales operations in New York. The NY Sales Director will manage the sales team in NY as well as developing and executing sales support and marketing strategies, meeting quarterly goals, managing Brand Ambassador team and providing guidance and training to team.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Direct and coordinate sales activities in the NY market
  • Manage sales team and support staff in NY including Territory Account Managers, Brand Ambassadors and Inside Sales Coordinator
  • Set sales goals and conduct quarterly reviews
  • Manage day-to-day decisions of the sales team
  • Manage quarterly promotional strategies and budget
  • Work with Data Analysts to better understand pricing and promotion environment in state
  • Manage Salesforce software with regards to NY team
  • Assist sales team in cultivating high level relationships (owners and other key people) in dispensaries
  • Manage sales side of new product launches and provide input into innovation pipeline
  • Provide sales training to the team on an individual and group level
  • Facilitate weekly sales team meetings
  • Participate on co-manufacturing calls for both Wana and Jetty brands
  • Participate on distribution calls for both Wan and Jetty brands
  • Manage NY communications with marketing (swag, eblasts, displays, etc.) teams from Wana and Jetty
  • Be in the field with sales team at least 3x per week
  • Ensure merchandising, budtender education and pop-up strategies are optimal for success
  • 80% of time spent in field expectation

Job Requirements:

  • Passion for Wana Brands and Jetty Extracts and knowledge of the industry
  • Strong ability to model and train teams on consultative selling methods
  • Ability to motivate and inspire sales team
  • Experience and knowledge of selling premium quality grade products and managing a broad portfolio of products
  • Persuasive sales ability, including ability to effectively position Wana and Jetty products against competitors
  • Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with internal and external partners, maintaining them over time
  • Prior account relationships in cannabis and/or CPG wellness
  • Ability to build high level relationships with owners and buyers of major accounts
  • Clearly communicate information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person
  • Persistence, positive attitude, and desire to hustle and build market share
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong desire to provide exceptional customer service
  • Ability to build relationships and rapport
  • Flexible schedule and ability to work some weekends and evenings

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has direct report(s) and overall supervisory responsibility for the Sales Team and Brand Ambassadors. This employee has the authority to hire and fire other employees, or this employee’s suggestions and recommendations as to the hiring, firing, advancement, promotion, or any other change of status of other employees are given particular weight.

Required Qualifications

  • Prior cannabis account relationships
  • Prior sales management experience
  • Prior sales CPG management experience with strong analytical background

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

This position requires a valid state-issued license to work in the cannabis industry (e.g., MED Badge).

Compensation And Benefits

  • Annual compensation commensurate with experience from $150,000 - $175,000, including potential bonuses

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position is exempt from overtime pay due to executive exemption.

This position regularly works normal business hours, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week. Some weekend and night work will be expected. Please confirm with the supervisor regarding the expected working schedule.

Travel includes both local and out-of-the-area travel with some overnight travel expected. Travel is up to 50% of work time.
