Satellite Network Software Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the software system design and implementation for satellite onboard networking and routing technology, including algorithms, interfaces, protocols, coding, and testing techniques, with a strong focus on network protocols and architecture
• Execute tests and analysis using network simulation and emulation, ensuring robust and reliable network performance
• Participate in software reviews with colleagues
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, project management, and external stakeholders, to ensure project alignment with client needs and company goals
• Manage and maintain project documentation and system specifications, with detailed records of networking configurations and protocols
• Ensure compliance with government standards and regulations in all project aspects
• Facilitate problem-solving and decision-making processes, addressing technical challenges related to network design and implementation, and providing viable networking solutions
• Participate in regular team meetings, contributing to strategic planning and project reviews
  
  

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Minimum of fiveyears of experience in computer programming with significant exposure to network protocols or network design/engineering (e.g., topics such as IPv4, IPv6, IPsec, TCP/UDP sockets, tunneling, MPLS, etc.), emphasizing practical experience in networking
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in computer science or electrical engineering, or equivalent proficiency
• Proficiency in C and/or C++, Python, and systems programming principles, with a particular focus on networking applications and protocols
• Thorough understanding of software engineering projects from conception to completion, with a specific emphasis on network design, development, and implementation
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers and clients, especially regarding network-related topics
• Proven decision-making and multitasking abilities, with a track record of seeing projects through to completion
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
• US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work
