SBA DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
Commercial Alliance provides a comprehensive suite of lending services designed to help credit unions
succeed with business members across six states.
The SBA Director of Operations will lead and manage the SBA loan life cycle from handoff through closing/funding and portfolio management. This position is responsible for meeting the business unit’s goals and objectives, organizing and directing the execution of operational and strategic business plans in conjunction with the rest of the organization’s leadership team, and creating a scalable platform to support the growth and expansion of the SBA lending business. Fosters collaboration while directly leading a team responsible for the execution of the SBA Operating Model.

Fosters collaboration while directly leading a team responsible for the execution of the SBA Operating Model.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the daily functions of the loan operations from processing through closing/funding for all SBA loan products. Provide guidance and management to employees.
- Provide guidance to the portfolio management team and ensure that expectations are met, and that proper management reporting is available.
- Manage process changes, enhancements, and modifications to facilitate implementation of new and/or improved business processes. Proactively identifies and makes improvements to the delivery of service, and to internal processes and procedures, to enhance loan quality and efficiency.
- Establish performance goals and metrics to ensure the department/individual expectations are being met or exceeded.
- Collaborate in planning, designing, developing, testing, and implementing new technology or enhancements to existing technology.
- Coordinate with Risk Management to ensure proper quality assurance and quality control procedures are developed and implemented.
- Create and maintain procedures that include identification of controls within processes to promote excellence in loan quality and adherence to all applicable internal and SBA SOPs.
- Keep informed of industry changes and trends in matters of compliance, fraud/risk, loan quality, and productivity metrics.
- Assist with audits and other regulatory reviews.
- Maintain a high level of customer service that meets or exceeds SBA standard closing expectations.
- Attend internal and external management meetings and represent the organization at external functions and activities.
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly board loan reports as assigned.
SKILLS:
- Extensive industry knowledge with demonstrated ability to design solutions to problems.
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and relationship management skills, with an ability to interact and influence at all functions and levels.
- Successful experience in leading SBA lending operations and operations support.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where changes to procedures are common.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills sufficient to interact with all levels of management and staff.
- Proven decision-making ability with strong judgment.
- Proficient in MS Windows/Outlook.
- Must be detail oriented and possess good management skills with emphasis on planning, organization and scheduling.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or other appropriate area; or combination of education and experience equivalent to bachelor’s degree
- 7-10+ years of experience in SBA lending and leadership experience managing managers/departments
- NAGGL Certification - preferred
