Your Role:


As a Controls Engineer at EMD Electronics, you will develop equipment network communication applications for Delivery Systems and Services products (GASGUARD, CHEMGUARD, and POLYFLOW). Our products are used globally in the Semiconductor industry to supply hazardous gases and chemicals. You will be working across a variety of platforms and technologies depending on project needs the Controls Engineer may handle everything from new product development, sustaining support for legacy products, provide technical support for Field Service engineers and Quality Technicians in all regions.

  • Work as part of a cross-functional project team of product managers, project managers, sales engineers, and other engineers to design and implement new features for existing and upcoming projects
  • Collaborate with other developers to create network communication programs and hardware applications
  • Help produce both internal and user-facing documentation for products and applications
  • Travel (30% or less) Both domestic and international

Location: Onsite (one day per week) at one of our facilities located in Breinigsville, PA, Chandler AZ, or Austin TX


Who You Are:


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in software/Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar technical discipline
  • 5+ years’ experience Industrial database management and design, such as Profiy Historian, Microsoft SQL, My SQL or other SQL development software
  • 5+ years’ experience of communication protocols (Serial, Ethernet, TCP/IP and Modbus), Industrial Networking SCADA/PLC systems design and maintenance in VLAN.
  • 5+ years’ experience with software development experience, specifically in SCADA, VM applications, DCS
  • 5+ years’ experience SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) development software, Wonderware, Ignition, Rockwell or other SCADA platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience with OPC Server telecommunications
  • 5+ years’ experience Proficient in C coding, VBA (Visual Basic for Application), understand Windows Server OS.
  • Experience with GE CIMPLICITY SCADA software
  • SCADA Paging system setup
  • Experience with Siemens, GE-Emerson, Allen-Bradley and Omron automation systems and PLC hardware
  • Passion for building customer facing products in a diverse team
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of software engineering best practices and associated tools
  • Willingness and ability to own all stages of the development process: design, testing, implementation, automation, and operational support
  • Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
  • Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
  • Strong problem solving and design skills with the ability to multi-task
