Description
St. Anthony Catholic School in Washington DC is hiring a full time licensed School Counselor for the 2024-25 school year.
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the Archdiocese of Washington
- Participates in activities that develop/strengthen the understanding of the Catholic faith.
- Adheres to all Federal and State laws for reporting child abuse, neglect and/or endangerment.
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Supports and adheres to the Code of conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese.
- Abides by the Confidentiality Policy set forth in the Employee Handbook
- Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionals.
- Assists in development of student support plans.
- Prepares and implements counseling program for students.
- Assists students with social/emotional issues and offers referral options for outside counseling.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Practicing Catholic in good standing.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and standard accepted practices.
- Able to maintain a positive attitude while providing exemplary customer service.
- Excellent listener.
- Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, school-based mental healthcare, or a related field.
- Must have a valid state-issued certificate or license.
- Must have 2-3 years of counseling experience.
- Experience with administrative functions (budgeting, scheduling, institutional relationships)
- Excellent computer proficiency (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook)
