Join our team as a School Psychologist, where you'll play a pivotal role in empowering students to reach their academic and emotional potential. You'll provide personalized assessment and counseling services, ensuring every student receives the support they need to thrive. Collaborating closely with families, external agencies, and school district personnel, you'll offer guidance, transition planning, and coordinate educational services.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct diagnostic psychological assessments to determine students' eligibility for supportive and special education services, adhering to Individualized Education Plan (IEP) guidelines.
Interpret evaluation results and collaborate with teachers to implement tailored interventions, fostering both healthy adolescent development and addressing mental health concerns.
Offer consultation on curriculum modifications, behavior intervention strategies, and utilize available school and community resources effectively.
Engage in research aimed at enhancing school functioning and student well-being.
Maintain comprehensive documentation and reports as required.
Provide informative and supportive communication to parents regarding special education matters.
Actively participate in meetings, contributing insights and suggestions for continuous improvement.
Requirements
Education/Experience:
Master's degree or higher in psychology or educational psychology, with a focus on school psychology.
National Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential preferred.
Completion of a supervised field experience (minimum 250 hours) and a one-year, full-time internship in a school or child student center.
Skills/Knowledge
Possession of a valid Illinois driver's license.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer operations.
Familiarity with Individualized Education Plan (IEP) processes and crisis intervention procedures.
Strong clinical assessment, therapeutic planning, and organizational skills.
Physical Demands
Ability to perform physical tasks such as sitting, standing, bending, and occasional lifting.
Capable of providing physical restraint for students, if necessary.
Adequate visual, hearing, and learning capabilities to fulfill job requirements.
Environment And Schedule
Work hours aligned with school and vocational program schedules.
Flexibility to work off-site during remote learning days or in alternative settings when needed.
Engagement with students may involve encounters with challenging behaviors, requiring resilience and empathy.
