Science Videographer and Video Producer

The National Marine Fisheries Service’s (NOAA Fisheries) Office of Communications enhances public awareness of NOAA Fisheries as a trusted authority and global leader in the science and management of living marine resources and ecosystems. Lynker is seeking a Science Videographer and Video Producer to support the Office of Communications in it’s video production efforts at NOAA Fisheries headquarters and in the field. This support is needed to increase effectiveness and efficiency in communicating with target audiences, including Congress; the commercial fishing industry; the aquaculture industry; recreational fishermen; traditional media and trade outlets; agency leadership; other federal agencies or partners; scientific and academic communities; and the interested general public. Professional video products are critical to supporting the agency’s overall strategic communications effort.

Duties of the Science Videographer and Video Producer will include the following

Produce professional quality videos to convey NOAA Fisheries’ scientific expertise, accomplishments, findings, and the annual management priorities that support the agency’s mission.

Tasks

• Coordinate, script, and facilitate video production for the agency;
• Film, duplicate, and edit video to support the agency’s priorities. This could include on land, underwater, or at-sea opportunities; ○ Vendor will be required to obtain the NOAA diving certification
• Create, edit, and produce professional short-format videos for social media and websites (15 seconds to 5 minutes)
• Catalog and analyze video stock using the agency’s data storage system;
• Coordinate with video production staff in other offices/locations as needed;
• Manage onsite equipment and field production crew, as needed;
• Produce audio with clarity, richness, immersive spatial sound, well-balanced mixing, detailed fidelity, and natural lifelike quality;
• Create graphics, sketch animation, and imaging for video (i.e. maps, graphs);
• Transcribe and caption videos, ensuring videos are accessible (i.e., Section 508 compliant);
• Develop interview questions for scientific experts that result in plain language responses;
• Provide b-roll packages for local/national media broadcasting and other organizations, as requested;
• Travel to multiple locations throughout the year to interview subject matter experts and capture video;
• Develop and update operating procedures for video systems and maintain a records management system for data collections and archival video to ensure timely retrieval of visuals;
• Assist with loading videos to the website and tracking analytics on video streaming services;
• Work collaboratively with other video production professionals by sharing equipment, project development responsibilities, and expertise;
• Create title cards, lower thirds, and transitions to introduce segments and provide context;
• Create animated elements such as icons, illustrations, and infographics to visually explain complex concepts or data; and
• Create visual effects, backgrounds, and overlays.
  
  
  

The Science Videographer and Video Producer selected should have the following

• BA in documentary film production (MA is a PLUS);
• 5+ years of experience;
• skilled in the following
• Adobe Creative Suite,
• Final Cut Pro,
• photo and audio editing software,
• video analytics,
• cloud video/photo storage,
• branded content,
• underwater video/photo,
• studio lighting,
• equipment maintenance,
• and time lapse and motion control
