The Chemical Biology group is responsible for guiding the identification and development of DUBTACs through the establishment of cutting-edge mass spectrometry (MS) platforms. We are seeking a Scientist who will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing experiments to validate DUBTACs applying the various chemoproteomics platforms established at Vicinitas. The ideal candidate is an open-minded, flexible and curious team player, who enjoys problem solving and collaborating with other team members to further the research objectives of our company.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute cell-based screening experiments for proteomics analysis.
• Process samples for MS analysis, run samples on various MS instruments, and analyze and interpret the results. Independently plan follow-up experiments to advance the project.
• Assist in instrument maintenance as required.
• Collaborate with the other scientists and research associates in the Chemical Biology team.
• Interface with data analysis, protein sciences, and medicinal chemistry to ensure corporate goals are accomplished.
  
  

Qualifications

• PhD in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or related field.
• General understanding of molecular biology, biochemical methods, and enzymology. Specific knowledge and experience in the field of protein homeostasis, especially the ubiquitination pathway a plus.
• Good understanding and experience with general chemoproteomics methods, including screening reactive moieties to determine on-target potency and selectivity.
• Experience in planning and executing cell-based experiments for compound screening.
• Experience analyzing and interpreting chemoproteomics/proteomics MS data.
• Experience operating MS instruments a plus, particularly ThermoFisher, Bruker and/or AgilentTOF instruments.
• Effective communicator who leads by example and adapts to conditions on the ground to deliver scientific objectives consistently.
  
  

Expected Salary Range: Scientist I $120,000-$130,000 / Scientist II $130,000-$145,000. (Compensation and leveling will be commensurate with experience and expertise and could fall outside of the stated range)
