The successful candidate will be part of the biology team focusing on the advancement of novel Attobody-based therapeutics that are designed to target immune signaling and treat autoimmune diseases. This position requires broad technical experience in in vitro biology with a strong emphasis on immunology and an industrial mindset underpinned by critical thinking, multitasking, and the ability to propose new approaches and ideas. The candidate will design and perform in vitro and ex vivo cell-based assays to examine mechanisms of action and potency of our emerging immunology therapeutics. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and perform experiments with high complexity using various in vitro and ex vivo molecular and cell-based model systems/assays to support characterization of biologics against immunology targets
  • Design, optimize, and execute hypothesis driven experiments to test drug potency and immunological mechanisms of action.
  • Design and execute target validation experiments to validate multiple immunological targets and move potential targets into the pipeline
  • Select and manage CROs as needed for the design and execution of robust preclinical data packages to support drug discovery programs
  • Hands-on work will include isolation and culture of primary immune cells, propagation and modification of cell lines, and generating and utilizing cell-based assays for functional screening of biologic molecules and MOA studies
  • Analyze and present data, rationale, and design of in vitro studies to the project teams.
  • Provide experimental support and rationale for discovery and validation of new drug targets and preclinical development for existing projects in the immunology space
  • Work collaboratively on multiple projects concurrently and coordinate activities across functions

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in Immunology/Cell Biology or other relevant discipline, preferably in autoimmune disease field
  • Hands-on in vitro assay development experience in immunology is required, preferably in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry setting
  • Broad knowledge and technical experience in in vitro biology with a strong focus on T cell biology and immune cell interactions
  • Deep understanding and extensive hands-on experience with various in vitro immunology laboratory techniques are required, including but not limited to flow cytometry, immune cell culture and immunology assays
  • Capable of working independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, demonstrating multitasking capabilities
  • Excellent troubleshooting, data analysis and interpretation skills are required
  • Great communication skills and team spirit are a must; the ability to present results at project team meetings is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of the pathophysiology of autoimmune diseases and the molecular signal transduction inside and outside of the immune cells
  • Experience of immunology target validation
  • Experience of designing and executing high throughput screening assays
