Responsibilities

  • Create financial reports to communicate the performance of agency service lines.
  • Conduct ad hoc research, analysis, and reporting to support operational changes in the business as needed.
  • Ensure accurate recording of cash receipts.
  • Collaborate with the development team to coordinate budgeting, reporting for fundraising events, and revenue reconciliation.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures for revenue and expense recognition.
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations, resolving and reporting any discrepancies systematically and promptly.
  • Verify the accuracy of accrued expenses and the amortization periods for all prepaid assets.
  • Maintain detailed written explanations for all accounting estimates.
  • Document the accounting and reporting implications of significant or unusual transactions.
  • Collaborate with the Accounts Payable team to identify unrecorded liabilities at month-end.
  • Ensure adequate segregation of duties and effective review and sign-off during the month-end close process.
  • Participate in finance close meetings.
  • Assist in drafting the annual financial statements, including all schedules and footnotes.
  • Create auditable reference aids to support the annual financial statements and footnotes.
  • Complete annual financial statement disclosure checklists.
  • Support the annual audit by coordinating and executing the annual physical count for the stores.
  • Prepare various annual cost reports and assist in preparing the annual 990.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Operations leadership on pre-launch filings, including Certificate of Need filings with NYS and Change in Scope filings with HRSA.


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.


Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in accounting, financial planning and analysis.
  • Experience in the healthcare or insurance industry is a plus.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work independently, and read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents.
  • Effective in presenting information to senior management, auditors, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with strong financial reporting and analysis skills.
  • Proven track record in researching accounting matters, collaborating with others, supervising, and developing their skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and partnering abilities, including success in influencing beyond direct reporting lines.
