The Senior Accountant will ensure that all accounting and finance-related reporting and activities are completed within the daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly deadlines, in compliance with applicable Bank policies and regulations. A strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is essential, alongside the application of this knowledge in the routine processing, monitoring, and control of the Bank’s financial activities.


Ideal candidates will be detail-oriented, maintain a positive attitude, and be open to new challenges and approaches. Excellent communication and organizational skills are crucial, as is proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the controller with monthly and quarterly close cycles, prepare financial reporting, and prepare journal entries.
  • Conduct various data analyses on loans and deposits to facilitate executive decision-making.
  • Scale accounting systems and processes to support future growth.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations and collaborate with internal departments to ensure items are properly cleared and monthly certifications are completed.
  • Prepare monthly Board and Committee reports including regulatory monitoring reports and financial reports.
  • Maintains prepaid and fixed asset schedules and set up recurring journals as needed
  • Prepare quarterly profitability reports.
  • Prepares and files various tax and regulatory reporting requirements associated with a Bank.
  • Assists with the preparation and filing of the Bank’s quarterly call reports.
  • Prepare the quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Acts as the primary contact and responsible for the day-to-day operations for items related to accounts payable, certification, daily reconciliation, fixed assets, month-end close, prepaid and regulatory and agency filings.
  • Assists with Accounting department projects as needed, including but not limited playing a critical role in automating processes to improve efficiencies as the Bank grows.


Requirements:

  • 5 years of professional accounting experience.
  • Good understanding of accounting concepts (GAAP) and control requirements. Knowledge related to transactions of financial institutions preferred.
  • Ideal candidate will have public accounting experience or prior financial institutions experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics or equivalent experience. (CPA preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in order to communicate effectively and tactfully at all levels of Bank staff, as well as with outside auditors and regulators.
  • Strong Excel skills is a must.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a dynamic environment to meet set deadlines.
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply concepts to different related areas of work.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and willingness to assist where necessary to meet goals of the Accounting Department and the Bank.
  • Experience working with general ledger, fixed asset accounting systems preferred.
  • Comply with all applicable State and Federal banking regulations, Bank policies and procedures including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti Money Laundering Program and Information Systems Security Policies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve complex accounting matters
