Accounting Overview

Responsibilities

This position will play a crucial role on the ownership accounting team. Responsibilities include:

  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement closes within specified deadlines with little oversight.
  • Maintain quality financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP within a multi-entity environment.
  • Prepare entries for significant events prior to posting to the GL (example: loan closing/loan refinance, purchase or sale of assets, etc.).
  • Reconcile project costs to the general ledger monthly for entities under development.
  • Assist with the preparation and processing of monthly draw submissions to the lender for each respective project.
  • Assist with the coordination and review of the capitalization of completed projects
  • Drive continual process improvement through the use and implementation of technology.
  • Ability to work independently and research technical accounting transactions.
  • Assist with recurring team trainings.
  • Significantly involved with processes outside of cost closes (Fair Value, Equity Roll Ups, Financial Reporting, Financial Audits, etc.).
  • Help maintain policies and procedures for the monthly close process.
  • Communicate with the Assistant Controllers and the respective development managers and/or investment managers keeping them up to date on the status of projects.
  • Follow PEG policies and procedures and comply with state and federal laws.

Management Responsibilities

This position will report directly to the Assistant Controller over the ownership accounting team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years accounting experience.
  • YARDI experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures related to U.S. GAAP.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and further knowledge of existing systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to collaborate with individuals inside and outside the accounting department.
  • Must be available to work in office. Future opportunities for hybrid work schedule after training period is completed.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to tolerate prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at desk in assigned location.
  • Must be able to operate a computer, telephone, and/or keyboard and tolerate prolonged periods performing work using a computer, telephone, and/or keyboard.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
