Overview

As a Senior Business Analyst on our Center of Excellence team in Finance, you will assess and evaluate current or proposed business processes and operations for enhancement or redesign. Coordinating among various stakeholders, you will lead or serve on complex project teams to evaluate process scalability, work redesign, pilot innovation efforts, provide systematic reviews, and promote sustainability of ministry initiatives for multiple countries. You will also steward a process enhancement pipeline, by bringing an improvement proposal from ideation through to realization, by way of user research, business case generation, process and/or technology analysis, business process design, documentation, training, and deployment. In this role, you will leverage your experience and training to discover and/or develop complex data, monitor analytics, contribute to successful communications and quality trends, and educate leadership in areas of opportunity for improvement.

What will you do?

  • Acts as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.
  • Analyze process and initiatives by organizing business needs, reviewing, considering, and/or defining the ministry's policies and approaches, standardizing work flows, technology, policies, and procedures, interpreting business rules and requirements, and improving the quality of the services being delivered.
  • Develop business cases for leadership review, approval, and prioritization; eliciting requirements from stakeholders, studying organization issues, translating and simplifying requirements, managing communications, and producing formal documentation.
  • Leverage experience and training to discover and/or develop complex data, monitor analytics, contribute to successful communications and quality trends, and educate staff at all levels in areas of opportunity for improvement.
  • Collect, sort, and study ministry-related information, ultimately interpreting the statistical data, applying it to different business functions, looking for ways of identifying efficiencies, problem areas, and improvements.
  • Build business objectives required for formulating complex analysis plans and designing questionnaires, tests, and plans, to mine data from available internal and external sources, to perform an actionable analysis and give cogent recommendations. Conduct further tests to ensure that data is valid and consistent with defined needs.
  • Identify and analyze cross-departmental ministry process problems, defining the scope of activities required to address the issues and streamlining where appropriate to increase productivity and efficiency.
  • Plan, monitor, and manage your own projects from initiation through completion. May also lead junior analysts on larger projects. This includes developing assignments, timetables and responsibilities for team members for the duration of the project. Further, provide for progress reporting, troubleshooting and people management, to include organizing and directing team members, and ensuring that materials and equipment resources are delivered on time.
  • Coach and provide expertise, and may oversee the work of other professionals and support staff in the business analysis discipline.
  • Plan to travel (including internationally) approximately 4 times per year

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 8 years' relevant professional experience
  • Ability to lead others to solve complex problems; sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including experience in working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization; ability to communicate difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view
  • A passion to deeply understand the process user’s experiences and pain points, then translate that knowledge into an enhanced process that empowers the user to serve Finance’s neighbours more efficiently and effectively
  • Strong process analysis and ability to create process visualization via an online whiteboard (Miro, Mural, LucidSpark or others)
  • Preferred: Strong gap analysis skills (understanding the as-is state, designing the to-be state, and the creative problem solving needed to bridge the states)
  • Preferred: Strong cross-cultural experience and communication skills
