Client is a Wines & Spirits importer and distributor of fine wines and spirits headquartered NY. We represent a high-quality, diversified portfolio of wines and spirits from around the world. The company began with just a handful of relatively unknown estates in 1987, and has since grown to represent over 500 estates, most of which are family-owned-and-operated. We are a national importer, and also have direct wholesale distribution network to 8 states; New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, California, Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.
Responsibilities
Handles employee relations including conflict resolution, PIP administration, onboarding
Performance Management - update employee self-evaluation, manager evaluation form, schedule reviews with all managers moving from an anniversary-based review schedule to a fixed annual review date for all employees
Responsible for plan design and annual review of benefits packages
Responsible for vendor selection for all employee benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401k etc.
Health Benefits administration
Assist employees with claims issues
On boarding when eligible
Explanation of benefits
401k Administration – including management of plan documents, periodic review of plan performance with outside broker, employee education and on boarding, and be responsible for the annual 401k audit
Supervise Payroll preparation and insure payroll compliance across all entities and states
Assist with recruiting including job description creation, initial screening of resume and presentation to relevant managers of qualified candidates. Moving towards recruiting fully for lower-level positions including AR Clerks, AP Clerks, and Customer Service roles
Assist in roll out of Compensation plan, recently crafted with the assistance of Revenue Shift to insure the company is not overpaying for each role, and the long term viability of the company.
Assist in DEI initiatives
Craft HR policy including definition and implementation
Strategize with upper management regarding growth plans and right sizing departments and pay grades
Insure that we are compliant with statutory requirements within each state of operations
Liaison with external Employment attorney in researching employment related matters
Work with each department manager to understand annual needs and help develop annual manpower plan including budgets
Communicate clearly and effectively to all levels of staff on HR matters and initiatives
Review use of payroll platform and HRIS to make department as efficient as possible and information as visible as possible to upper level management
Manage HR Director and HR Generalist
Develop Manager training for newly appointed managers as well as seasoned managers
Assist employees in individual and department growth
Fully understand the culture and identity of Skurnik Wines and all roles/responsibilities within the Company
Oversee our DEI council
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
10+ years in HR experience with at least 3-5 years of management experience
Effective and clear verbal and written communication skills
Strong leadership and managerial skills to oversee the HR department and work with all employees within the company
Extensive experience in Benefits including creating plans, selecting vendors and onboarding new employees
Excellent organizational, communication, project and time management skills
Experience in budgeting and budget management
Ability to think strategically, problem solve and make sound business decisions
Knowledge of HRIS Systems, Benefits, Onboarding
