About the Role

The Senior Director of Marketing & Communications will lead the development and execution of comprehensive marketing and communications strategies that align with Teach to One’s operating goals and New Classrooms’ broader landscape efforts, including its policy agenda, and fundraising objectives. This role is ideal for a thinker/doer, player/coach who can balance strategic planning with hands-on execution. This role reports to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and will manage a small team and several contractors and vendors, ensuring all marketing and communications efforts are on-brand, consumer-centric, and effective in positioning the organization as a mission-driven thought leader in education.


What You Would Do

  • Lead the creation and execution of New Classrooms and Teach to One strategic marketing and communications plans, including go-to-market strategies for new products and features.
  • Spearhead market and competitor research initiatives to uncover insights and trends that inform the organization’s strategic decisions.
  • Oversee and manage all marketing channels, including website, social media, email marketing, SEO/SEM, content marketing, and events. Ensure all channels are optimized, cohesive, and aligned with the organization’s strategic goals.
  • Assess the ROI of our campaigns, driving a culture of accountability and data-driven decision-making within the team.
  • Serve as the organization’s brand ambassador, internally and externally, embedding the brand’s look, tone, feel, and voice across all platforms, and acting as a primary spokesperson in key events and platforms.
  • Develop consumer-centric messaging that takes into account audience needs and behaviors, as well as compelling storytelling assets that position the organization and its leadership as thought leaders in the education sector.
  • Assist the CEO and President with crafting and refining presentations, writing op-eds, preparing speeches, and developing other key communications.
  • Collaborate with the sales and customer success teams to develop campaigns and supporting collateral that drive engagement, sales, and renewals.
  • Collaborate with the policy and development teams to produce collateral, presentations, speeches and other communication assets that move our policy agenda forward and our fundraising goals.
  • Engage with media outlets and partner organizations to publish content and engage in speaking opportunities in order to enhance brand visibility.
  • Allocate and manage the marketing and communication budgets efficiently, ensuring optimal use of resources for maximum impact.
  • Guide and mentor a marketing and communications team, including external vendors, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in marketing and communications, preferably within the education sector.
  • Experience working within our CRM, Hubspot.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing marketing teams and external vendors, as well as facilitating cross-functional collaboration.


Role Classification and Benefits

This role is remote, full-time, and includes benefits such as rich medical, dental, and vision insurance, 42 paid days off per year (prorated for the period in which you work), paid parental leave, a professional development budget and a quarterly cell phone subsidy.


The hiring salary range for this role is $112,500 - $119,250 and will be commensurate with experience. We have a hiring salary range of $125,000 - $132,500 for specific higher cost of labor locations, which include New York City, Washington DC, Boston, San Francisco/Oakland, Los Angeles, Seattle and their metro areas.


New Classrooms is a fully remote organization. All employees work from home, and occasionally travel for in-person get-togethers and off-sites.
