Position overview/Responsibilities


The Senior Editor ensures the editorial accuracy and quality of company deliverables and assists the Head of Editorial in efficiently managing workflow of all editorial services.


  • Ensures the overall editorial accuracy and quality of all written material with respect to style, consistency, grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Supports the establishment of and adherence to consistency standards and style preferences for client teams, maintaining style guides when appropriate to incorporate updated client preferences
  • Works with the Head of Editorial to prioritize workflow and manage deadlines, communicating effectively to address evolving priorities as they impact timelines and attending status meetings when needed
  • Addresses editorial-related questions from Medical colleagues, as well as more junior editors and freelancers
  • Provides higher-level editorial support when needed, reviewing for standard AMA and grammatical rules while also approaching language/voice with a critical eye
  • Communicates effectively with Medical colleagues, Client Solutions colleagues, Project Managers, and the Creative Department to ensure quality; support adherence to timelines, budget, and process; and foster a collaborative team dynamic
  • Performs an appropriate level of edit as directed by the Medical Writer (neither “overedits” nor “underedits”)
  • Meets project deadlines without compromising editorial quality, effectively managing multiple projects when necessary
  • Assists the Publication Technology Department in keeping EndNote entries accurate and up to date
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in English
  • Proficient knowledge of AMA style
  • 3+ years of experience in medical editing, preferably in an agency setting
  • Flexible, deadline oriented, and able to work as part of a multifunctional team
  • Maintains a professional attitude, even in challenging situations
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe
  • Ability to edit content in a variety of therapeutic areas
  • Ability to quickly and amicably respond to changing client needs and conditions
  • Ability to evaluate, interpret, and analyze both written and verbal communications
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters teamwork
  • Understands and complies with policies and procedures as outlined in the Corporate Handbook
