We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a diverse team of engineers as we build and innovate in the area of application and infrastructure observability. We move fast and iterate quickly, always obsessed with solving customers’ problems. We have ambitious goals to build best-in-class products, and you will help the team win in a fast-growing market.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement by serving as a coach, mentor, and technical advisor.
  • Develop psychological safety within the team.
  • Foster a strong sense of ownership and empower team members to take initiative.
  • Plan and support career development.
  • Recruit and retain top talent for your team.
  • Ensure that user experience and feedback are prioritized, keeping customer needs at the forefront of product development.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including UX/UI designers, data scientists, and business stakeholders, to align technical solutions with business goals.
  • Manage incident response and postmortems, ensuring timely resolution of issues and continuous improvement of processes.
  • Diagnose and resolve systemic obstacles that prevent your team from delivering high-quality software.
  • Facilitate technical discussions and guide your team in making smart decisions that balance short-term and long-term goals.
  • Be responsible for the execution and delivery of your team.
  • Collaborate with product management to resolve priorities and define the roadmap for your team.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams focused on large-scale SaaS systems.
  • Proven experience with DevOps practices and leading teams to build and operate their own services.
  • Strong understanding of scalability, performance optimization, and reliability best practices in large-scale systems.
  • Passionate about good engineering practices, new technologies, and process improvement, with a track record of mentoring and coaching team members.
  • Enthusiastic about building elegant and powerful tools to solve customer problems.
  • Proven experience leading teams in agile development environments, with a strong emphasis on continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated experience in building customer-centric products, ensuring that user experience and feedback are at the forefront of product development.
  • 10+ years of Software Engineering experience with at least 4+ years of recent experience managing engineering teams.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment, with a track record of advocating for and implementing inclusive practices within teams.

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range $203,200.00 - 279,400.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range $182,880.00 - 251,460.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range $162,560.00 - 223,520.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
