The Position

Hillsboro Technical Operations (HTO) is a drug product & finished goods manufacturing organization responsible for the reliable delivery of Roche’s commercial portfolio & pipeline products. The Operations organization at HTO is divided into three value streams, which combine to produce millions of units of life-saving medicine every year to patients around the world.

The Opportunity:

As a member of the Site Leadership Team, you will be accountable for New Product Introductions (NPIs), Technical Transfers and new technology introduction at Hillsboro Technical Operations, including all commercial and clinical products. You will lead, inspire and influence a highly proficient and engaged team of engineers in technical fit assessments, product introductions, process design and development, and qualification activities through licensure. The team is also responsible for the internal or external product transfers to commercial operations. This includes strategic long-range planning and operational planning. Together with the other two commercial manufacturing Value Stream Leads, you will be accountable for driving site performance and culture.

  • You will be accountable for all KPIs and outcomes of the Value Stream in line with Drug Product and Finished Goods strategic goals (safety, quality, delivery, engagement and cost)
  • You will create an environment conducive to robust manufacturing execution and continuous improvement
  • You will collaborate with peers to balance requirements and remove barriers within and across functions
  • You will ensure new medicines are launched as planned and that technical support is provided to maintain supply chain resilience
  • You will be fully accountable for the management of the discretionary functional budget
  • You will ensure “right-first-time” and a short order lead-time by implementing a customer-oriented lean end-to-end mindset
  • You will ensure that all business-critical resources, expertise and capabilities are available
  • You will collaborate with network and site partners to ensure overall production strategy and commitments are met

Who you are:

You have a BS/BA degree in life sciences, physical sciences, or engineering. Post graduate-level training (e.g., Ph.D., MSc or MBA) is preferred

  • You are Visionary, an effective Architect, Coach and Catalyst (VACC), with a proven record developing people and their technical capabilities
  • You are a technical expert in many areas of biotech drug product launch and manufacturing, with fifteen plus (15+) years biotech/pharmaceutical experience with five plus (5+) years in the biotech drug product and finished goods manufacturing environment
  • You have a strong business acumen with a solid knowledge of key performance indicators (safety, quality, delivery, engagement and cost) at a drug product/finished goods manufacturing site
  • You have a fundamental understanding of quality systems and the application of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs)
  • You have a lean mindset and end-to-end thinking with a focus on continuous improvement
  • You have excellent communication skills at both global and local levels, including presenting to regulatory authorities as needed
  • You have a demonstrated ability to perform at a high level in an environment that exhibits significant ambiguity and absence of precedent
  • You are able to create clarity and focus and remove barriers for execution
  • You are able to challenge principles and assumptions, listen actively and provide a safe environment for expressing different and alternative ideas

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of Hillsboro, OR is $155,000 - $314,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, level, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
