Senior Field Service Engineer

Your role and responsibilities

Works independently to install, modify, test, repair or inspect company products and equipment including, but not limited to: low voltage and medium voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, protection relays and Automation systemsPerforms or coordinates complex and diverse engineering activities associated with field projectsInterprets technical drawings and schematics and makes changes as necessary in the field to reflect work carried out on siteIncreases product and technical knowledge through factory or third party training, technical manuals, and conventional or non conventional resourcesProvides technical advice to customers on site and remotelyWorks closely with project managers to coordinate site activity. Assume the role of site manager on some projectsProvides leadership in the assembly and operation of lab and field service equipmentRecords, compiles, and reduces data for analysis and assists in the subsequent assessment and reportingLeads assigned field services: responsible for planning, analysis, and reporting of projects ranging in complexity from simple to advancedAssumes the role of a mentor or an advisor to less experienced company personnel and customersEnsures quality and safe operations in the fieldReports opportunities and problems to managementPrepares timesheets, service reports, expense reports and other documents immediately following the work assignmentPromotes to customers ways to optimize their operations or make general improvementsAssists the business development unit with technical knowledge for generating quotations and proposals

Qualifications For The Role

  • Associate's Degree in engineering or other technical field and minimum 5 years experience in marine power generation and power distribution with a focus on circuit breaker and switchgear maintenance
  • Alternately a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments
  • Strong knowledge of protection relays and excitation
  • Familiarity with marine/offshore work environment and procedures
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
