Position Description: Empirico, a biotechnology company that combines unmatched expertise in human genetics-driven target discovery with world-class capabilities in siRNA drug discovery, is looking for a talented Laboratory Animal Research (LAR) professional to lead our vivarium operations and team to support the Company's discovery and development programs.

Responsibilities:
- Your responsibilities will include supervising and contributing to daily vivarium activities and operations. You will be expected to -
- Work with the LAR team to ensure that animals receive care in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and experimental protocols
- Uphold safety and quality standards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Conduct regular audits and update SOPs to address findings
- Oversee maintenance and certification of vivarium equipment
- Contribute to writing lab SOPs, methods, and protocols
- Support in vivo Research, such as PKPD and disease model studies, and maximize utilization of vivarium capacity
- Perform injection techniques, dosing, tissue collection, blood collection, and other requested animal-related procedures
- Collaborate on study planning and execution, such as experimental design and specialized assays, and engage in data analysis, quality testing, and report preparation
- Support staff and their development by conducting routine performance reviews, providing guidance, fostering career growth, and delivering training
- This position requires a Master’s degree in Animal Science or a related discipline with a combination with at least 4 years hands-on in vivo experience, or a Bachelor's degree in combination with at least 6 years hands-on in vivo experience
- 2+ years of experience in managing a vivarium is required
- Experience in developing and implementing staff training programs
- Experience in preparing a facility for AAALAC accreditation is preferred
- AALAS certification at LATG level or higher is preferred
- Applicants must have authorization to work in the U.S
- Experience in rodent handling
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to apply relevant scientific concepts and terminology
- Affinity for animals and respect for their welfare is essential
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic team environment
- Self-motivated with a commitment to quality and safety
- Skilled in conflict resolution, performance management, and talent development
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with general computer literacy
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Manual dexterity required for lab work
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
