Key Responsibilities

  • Execute small- and large-scale antibody expression and purification using different chromatography techniques and determine their purity and function using SDS-PAGE, WB, SEC, ELISA, and SPR.
  • Design and construct novel antibody variants for improved stability, activity, specificity, or therapeutic potential using diverse molecular biology and analytical techniques.
  • Develop and implement multiple high-throughput antibody screening workflows such as ELISA, SPR, blocking and epitope binning to rapidly identify lead therapeutic candidates with desired biophysical and biochemical profile.
  • Express and purify immunogen and screening reagents using mammalian and E. coli expression systems.
  • Independently design, execute and troubleshoot immunoassays, analyze data, and routinely present findings during the Protein Sciences and cross-functional team meetings.
  • Co-lead antibody discovery campaigns and effectively collaborate with the In Vitro Pharmacology team for evaluation in cell-based assays, and with the In Vivo Pharmacology team to evaluate PK/PD, efficacy, and toxicity.
  • Manage a team of 1-2 direct reports and provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to ensure project goals are met effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Accurately and timely record experimental details and data in Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN).
  • Maintain scientific and technical expertise through familiarity with scientific literature.

Qualifications/Experience

  • PhD in Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Structural Biology or a related discipline with 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Background in therapeutic antibody discovery, screening, antibody engineering and optimization is essential.
