Senior Underwriter
Job Description:
Founderpath is the leading provider of non-dilutive funding to B2B SaaS companies doing $1-$20m per year in revenues (ARR). To date, Founderpath has provided financing to 414 SaaS companies totaling $160m. We do this with a small, but talented team.
Founderpath provides financing through revenue based finance agreements and term loans. The Company’s unique and proprietary underwriting systems are powered by multiple data integrations (200m+ rows of data in our Database updated monthly), AI, and a unique understanding of how SaaS companies work (we're former SaaS founders).
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will play an essential part in the dynamic growth of our business. You will work quickly to develop and apply a rigorous analytical approach to underwriting our existing and prospective customers as they seek financing. You will lead the underwriting process and work directly with founders and business leaders and present your recommendations to the Investment Committee.
What you will get to do:
- Evaluate data provided by prospective clients for accuracy and completeness. You’ll be instrumental in the line of defense against fraud.
- Digest data and diligence materials. Apply rigorous analytics to determine creditworthiness of (prospective) customers and requested credit amounts.
- Lead follow up diligence questions. Interview management to gain further insight, providing additional context and questions where needed.
- Author memo for the Company’s Investment Committee in a clear and concise manner. Present with conviction to the committee and be able to answer any questions.
- Propose deal terms and negotiate with the customers. Work with the legal team to structure and document credit agreements.
- Work with the rest of the Founderpath underwriting and portfolio management team, as well as the engineering team, to continuously improve the Company’s analytics and decisioning technology.
- Exposure to the CEO, CFO, and other leaders at the Company. Work in a dynamic environment and flat organization.
What you will bring to the team:
- BA/BS in Mathematics, Business, Statistics, Economics or other quantitative degree
- MBA and/or CFA preferred
- 4-6 years in underwriting, credit, fraud, or similar organizations. Commercial credit experience preferred
- Know your way around financial statements and be able to spot red flags
- Impeccable attention to detail with no tolerance misses
- Demonstrated ability to think critically. Possess a healthy dose of curiosity
- Formal credit training a strong plus
- Ability to lead communications with the Board, CEO, CFO and executive management team
