Senior Vice President of Business Development - Clinical Research

Position Overview

This remote position is open to candidates across the US. Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, you will play a crucial role in expanding our client base by securing new partnerships with clinical research organizations (CROs) and pharmaceutical sponsors. You will work closely with various departments, including Clinical Operations, Clinical Affairs, Quality, Marketing, Regulatory, HR, and Finance, to represent our sites effectively, drive innovation, and maximize revenue opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sales strategies by collaborating with the CEO and CBO to attract new studies to our network of sites.
  • Expand client relationships by identifying and establishing connections with high-revenue pharmaceutical, biotech, and CRO organizations.
  • Maintain and grow existing partnerships, strengthening relationships with current clients and advancing them to preferred partner status.
  • Manage proposal and feasibility processes, oversee proposal development, and adapt strategies based on market analysis.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences and networking events, promoting our brand and building new relationships.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure smooth feasibility reviews, trial management, and PI relationships.
  • Develop targeted campaigns in partnership with marketing to showcase our expertise and service offerings.
  • Monitor and report performance metrics, preparing sales forecasts and activity reports for senior management.
  • Lead and mentor the business development team, setting objectives and supporting their career development.
  • Achieve sales goals by meeting and exceeding quarterly objectives and managing assigned strategic projects.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Team management through recruiting, hiring, and supervising business development associates, setting KPIs, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Establish account and territory allocations and ensure productive meetings with direct reports.

Travel Requirements

  • Extensive travel to meet with sponsors and clients, visit existing sites, attend conferences, and explore potential M&A opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Experience: 7-10 years of relevant sales experience in clinical research with a strong track record in multi-site studies and client relationship management. Existing connections with decision-makers at CROs and pharmaceutical sponsors are advantageous.
  • Skills: Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce.com), strong communication skills, and the ability to work remotely and autonomously. Experience in managing sales teams and understanding feasibility processes across multiple sites is essential.
