Job Summary:

The Sr. Vice President of Operations is responsible for developing and overseeing cost-effective operations while exceeding guest and team-member expectations. This role provides strategic operational leadership, oversight, and coaching. The VP of Operations is accountable for all aspects of restaurant operations, including growth, sales, portfolio management, traffic, profitability, and people development. The SVP must live and embody the company’s Guiding Principles.


Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Drive Organizational Performance: Lead and drive best-in-class execution across the operations portfolio to ensure the organization's success.
  • Strategic Operations Management: Define and implement operational strategies, structures, and processes to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Budget and Financial Management: Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting process, manage P&L responsibilities, and assist in developing company budgets.
  • Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor performance to proactively identify efficiency issues and propose solutions.
  • Executive Reporting: Regularly report to the President/Chief Executive Officer regarding the company’s state-of-affairs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Attend and support regular meetings to strategize and update cross-functional partners about the business.
  • Organizational Evaluation: Conduct annual evaluations of the organization’s operational structure, working with leadership partners to ensure alignment with company objectives.
  • Guiding Principles Assessment: Assess the organization’s alignment with its Guiding Principles and recommend adjustments as necessary.
  • Representation and Negotiation: Represent the organization at events as directed by the President/CEO and arbitrate and negotiate internal and external disagreements to promote a cordial company ethos.
  • Management Meetings: Organize and participate in meetings with cross-functional and franchisor partners to discuss management plans and the company’s direction.
  • Hiring and Mentoring: Participate in the hiring process for division heads, interview and hire the operations management team, and provide ongoing mentorship.
  • Operational Initiative Participation: Understand and engage in the implications of operational initiatives, identifying and addressing operational gaps and opportunities within our restaurants.
  • Project Management: Plan, execute, train, roll out, and follow up on company initiatives, ensuring adherence to budget and timelines, and managing BOH and FOH processes.
  • Communication and Success Criteria: Facilitate internal and external communication, establishing and monitoring success criteria.
  • Supply Chain and Vendor Support: Oversee supply chain logistics, vendor support, and technical considerations such as POS systems.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.


Education, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience with a proven track record to support candidacy.
  • Experience: At least 10 years of managerial experience with a track record of implementing process improvements. Subway experience is a plus. 
  • Technological Proficiency: Proficiency in technology platforms relevant to the industry and position.
  • Leadership Skills: Bold leadership approach with a proven track record as a team leader, understanding management practices.
  • Travel Requirement: Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time to evaluate and support the business.
  • Communication Skills: Eloquent and articulate language competency with outstanding presentation abilities.
  • Project and Budget Management: Demonstrated skills in managing projects and budgets effectively.
  • Business Acumen: Strong business acumen with a broad understanding of fundamental business principles.
  • Analytical Skills: Analytical problem-solving skills with impeccable attention to detail.
  • Strategic Vision: Ability to set overall strategy and drive process improvement.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and get alignment to continuously move the business/team forward.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work and collaborate within a culturally diverse and complex environment.
  • Motivation and Independence: Highly motivated self-starter with proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Organizational Skills: Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Deadline Management: Ability to work under strict timelines and manage feedback and recommendations from multiple sources.
