Job Description

The primary objective of this position is transporting items between locations. It is mostly local driving, with the occasional out of state trip, all daily.This role requires the physical ability to spend long hours in a vehicle, climb in, out, on and off a truck, and assist in loading and unloading. In driving downtime shipping/receiving activities will be required. This role will also act as the backup for other shipping team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a small group of employees
  • Determines method of shipment and prepares bills, invoices and other shipping documents
  • Receives merchandise - checks and signs delivery slips, and assists with unloading as necessary
  • Inspects and verifies incoming goods against invoices or other documents, records shortages and rejects damaged goods
  • Accepts or returns merchandise according to established company procedures. Calculates prices according to guidelines, and affixes bar codes, prices, and security tags as necessary.
  • Organizes distribution and shipping of merchandise. Makes necessary verifications against documents, unpacks and routes goods to appropriate storage areas. Handles customer pick-ups.
  • Maintains internal record-keeping systems and inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Contacts resource people for various information. Contacts transport companies and suppliers to expedite, trace or return merchandise that does not conform to specifications or purchase orders.
  • Assembles containers and crates, packs goods to be shipped and prepares identifying information and shipping instructions
  • Knows safe storage and handling procedures for various chemicals and materials
  • Knows proper shipping procedures for transportation of dangerous goods
  • Takes inventory, maintains storage area, organizes and places stock on shelves. Ensures shipping area is always secure.
  • Take photos of customer parts and label them, then download them into a job folder for our records, along with any packing lists.
  • Create shippers for all shipments.
  • Transport items between facilities and to customer locations using the company truck.
  • Ship Domestic and International using UPS, Fed Ex and DHL via their Website
  • Ship Domestic and International (LTL, Air and Ocean) by using our freight forwarders
  • Design, write, and make sure all individuals follow shipping policies and procedures
  • Assist in loading and unloading trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Properly perform related paperwork/computer responsibilities for receiving or shipping a load.
  • Receives merchandise, including checks and signs of delivery slips.
  • Serves as backup in all areas of shipping.
  • Maintain a valid driver and chauffeur’s license.
  • Maintain driving record in good standing.
  • Maintain a current hi-lo certificate.
  • Assist in supporting the UTAC culture and values (Integrity, Expertise, and Innovation).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Skill Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years related experience.
  • Minimum 4 years hi-lo experience required.
  • Clean driving record- check will be conducted and offer will be contingent upon this
  • DOT physical required and offer will be contingent upon this
  • Ability to obtain a valid Hi-lo certification.
  • Valid chauffeur license required with medical screening.
  • Working knowledge of FIFO.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Fluency in the English language is required.
  • Strong problem-solving, strategic thinking, and analytical skills are required.
  • Ability to function within a team, working cooperatively toward team and individual goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Strong time management, multi-tasking, and organization skills.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job.
  • Accept instructions and tasks positively, treating all co-workers with dignity and respect.
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications and the ability to become proficient in any systems we use (Concur, Kronos, etc.).
  • Consistently adhere to and support all UTAC policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

Physical Demands:

  • Exposure to industry-accepted chemicals and noise.
  • Regularly required to stand, reach, bend, and move about the facility.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted and 75 lbs. assisted.
  • Able to stand for up to 8 hours.
  • Able to spend long hours sitting in a vehicle.
