Our ideal candidate for the Shop Foreman position will be a deeply experienced deiseal mechanic with a history of dependability, high performance, and demonstrated work history and longevity with former employers. We seek a knowledgeable worker and leader that possesses a "no-task-too-small-mentality" and is comfortable and willing to roll up your sleeves and jump on the tools when needed and the next minute sit down for a coaching/training session with your team or pick up admin tasks and order parts and supplies. This role is pivotal to the success of not just the company but the success of every shop employee - you have an opportunity to create a real and positive impact on the day-to-day operations of the shop and lives of the workers.

Responsibilities And Activities

  • Oversee the fulfillment of all service repairs and preventive maintenance activities, including tracking activities, prioritizing work orders, and providing status reports for impacted stakeholders
  • Manage shop supplies and parts, including inventorying, ordering, and organizing both consumable supplies and parts
  • Ensure shop activities remain in compliance with all regulatory requirements through both routine inspections and fulfillment of recordkeeping requirements
  • Supervise maintenance staff, including delegating responsibilities, enforcing policies and standards, verifying performance through spot checks, and promoting professional development
  • Determine vehicle/equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests
  • Perform preventative maintenance measures on a variety of different vehicles, equipment, and trailers
  • Repair and troubleshoot major components such as engines, transmissions and differentials, including replacing complete assembles, turbochargers, hydraulic systems, and fuel system components
  • Test engine, safety, and combustion control standards

Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Can reside anywhere in the US but must be willing to relocate to Colorado Springs, CO
  • Own basic hand tools and a toolbox
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Foundational understanding of diesel vehicles and equipment, including the principles of how major assemblies and sub-assemblies operate
  • Ability to read and understand repair manuals and schematics
  • Possess knowledge of FMCSR standards
  • Ability to prioritize incoming work orders by recognizing impacts to the organization, assessing safety risks, and making determinations regarding resource requirements
  • Possess strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Integrity and personal accountability; providing clear and accurate reporting regarding service activities, acknowledging mistakes and oversights, and taking ownership of any required corrective action
  • Physical capacity to stand, walk, bend, climb, or kneel throughout an eight-hour shift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Competencies

  • Previous experience performing maintenance on Freightliner and Komatsu, Nissan, and Liebherr brand vehicles and equipment
  • Knowledge of gas and diesel engines
  • Experience performing repairs and charging go AC systems
  • Welding
  • Basic computer literacy
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification
  • Valid CDL Class A, considered highly beneficial
  • A sense of humor is always a plus!

  • Starting hourly wage equates to between $65,000 and $80,000 per year (base + overtime)
