Qualifications
Education / Certification:
Valid Texas commercial driver’s license (Class B) Prefer License in a related field (HVAC/Plumbing/Electrical)
Special Knowledge / Skills
Maintenance: Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures.
Ability to operate hand and power tools General: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively (verbally).
Ability to work independently and with a group.
Experience
Maintenance experience.
Responsibilities
Maintenance Repair and maintenance of district facilities, including repairing woodwork; replacing electrical switches, fixtures, and motors; painting, repairing, and replacing plumbing fixtures and drainage systems; and replacing broken glass.
Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; perform maintenance and minor repairs.
Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems, including lockers, furniture, and equipment.
Complete repairs and installations as requested on work orders or by maintenance foreman.
Assist with relocation of furnishings, such as desks, tables, chairs, file cabinets, as needed.
Move, install, assemble, and repair equipment as needed.
General/Safety Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
Maintain accurate, updated records of preventive maintenance.
Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
Help keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
Transport workers and equipment to work sites throughout the district.
Work irregular hours as needed.
Environment / Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Continual walking standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and around moving objects and/or vehicles. Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals (herbicides and fertilizer) and loud noises. Frequent district wide travel.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have supervisory responsibility.
