Job Summary: To complete work orders from customers/clients in a timely manner by slitting steel into various widths for in house use and outside customers. This position is vital to the company because it is the feeder for shift production. The operator provides direction to the crew line to ensure smooth uninterrupted service of his respective line.
Responsibilities and Duties:
The employee is required to wear personal protective equipment at all times. An employee must work rotating shifts. The physical demands of the job involve repetitive movement as well as standing for long periods of time. A machine operator is subject to loud noise.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Ability to read and complete work orders
- Follow through with set up guide
- This position requires strong communication skills to be able to work with material handlers, co-workers and sift supervisors on a consistent basis
- Basic troubleshooting of machine and process flow
- Ensure all materials slit on shift are in accordance with customer or internal JSC specifications and requirements
- Operator uses a control panel or manually feeds steel through the line to be cut
- Ensure slitting line is running efficiently to meet targets
- Ensure that next shift is equipped with necessary material
- Coordinating material handling, packing, changeover operations, decanning, and staging of slit coils for slitting line
- Ensure standards for safe working conditions are observed
- 3-5 years experience working in machine operations
- Previous experience in cutting or slitting steel or metal materials
- Basic computer skills
- Mechanically inclined
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge of 5S and lean practices
- Strong organization skills
- Exceptional communication skills
