We are hiring a Social Studies Teacher to our growing team! As a Social Studies teacher at The Millard School, you will plan and implement curriculum aligned with state standards and a Biblical Worldview, covering courses such as World History, U.S. History, Government, and Economics. You will create a supportive learning environment that promotes critical thinking, active citizenship, and democratic values while fostering strong relationships with students and caretakers from diverse backgrounds. Adhering to school policies and utilizing holistic care methodologies, you will ensure student success, safety, and engagement in both in-person and virtual settings.

We are hiring a Social Studies Teacher to our growing team! As a Social Studies teacher at The Millard School, you will plan and implement curriculum aligned with state standards and a Biblical Worldview, covering courses such as World History, U.S. History, Government, and Economics. You will create a supportive learning environment that promotes critical thinking, active citizenship, and democratic values while fostering strong relationships with students and caretakers from diverse backgrounds. Adhering to school policies and utilizing holistic care methodologies, you will ensure student success, safety, and engagement in both in-person and virtual settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement curriculum aligned with state standards and school objectives integrated with a Biblical Worldview for courses such as World History, U.S. History, Government, Economics, etc
- Create a supportive learning environment that fosters critical thinking, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of historical events, societal structures, and global issues. The teacher should also promote active citizenship and democratic values among students
- Utilizes holistic care methodologies to continually pour into students and staff with a sense of personal responsibility and compassion toward seeing them succeed
- Adheres to the policies and procedures in alignment with Association of Christian School International, TMS curriculum, and additionally the vision of The Millard School when directing in-person and virtual learning platforms
- Spiritually responsible under the direction of the Principal to utilize Biblical holistic care methodologies when managing and caring for students, families, and staff
- Builds and navigates relationships with students and caretakers from diversified backgrounds with love, acceptance, and sensitivity
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities according to TMS curriculum
- Be responsible for the safety of the students throughout the school day in all settings
- Consistently meet student performance curriculum objectives
- Observe and evaluate student progress
- Maintain accurate and timely grade reports
- Maintain accurate and neat student files in accordance with ACSI Accreditation Standards
- Develop supplemental curriculum activities when necessary and in alignment with the mission of TMS
- Appropriately implement incentives within the classroom to ensure student engagement
- Display flexibility with new ideas and challenges, and seek counsel in the unknown
- Must hold, at minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in Education
- Current, valid state teaching certification
- Proficient in office software programs such as spreadsheets, databases, and word processing
- Exhibits excellent written and verbal communication
- Must be organized, coordinated, and manage time efficiently
