Software Development Manager

As a Software Development Manager you will be responsible for building and running a large team tasked with developing, enhancing and supporting our US Sports Trading systems.


Collaborating with teams across the Business, you will build the Company’s first Software Development department in the US, successfully delivering software to agreed timescales, by coordinating and driving the activity of the team.


You will drive the team's development, enhance operational efficiency and promote a culture of outstanding software development practices. Leading the team and retaining a good technical understanding of the systems. You will remain close to the solutions being developed to define and deliver key results.


Collaborating with our UK technology teams, you will action on-boarding plans using a variety of methods. You will ensure that new team members become empowered to succeed by establishing effective training programs.


You will be exposed to cutting edge technologies and encouraged to innovate creative problem solving techniques to successfully deliver change.


This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.


The salary range for this position is $145,000 - $180,000 annually.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding the workload and work items distributed among the team as well as the larger works spanning the department.
  • Ensuring the efforts and requirements of both resource and time are understood while assessing impacts, risks and costs in delivering the work within the team, building and maintaining capacity to deliver the Business needs.
  • Committing to the deliverables of the team and the department for larger works.
  • Understanding of the technical structure, the domain and architecture of the systems that the team are responsible for and how those systems are configured in the development and production estate.
  • Working with stakeholders and other technical staff to ensure appropriate, fit for purpose and simple solutions are defined, planned and produced within the team.
  • Ensuring there is capacity and capability to deliver the volume of work required of the Business.
  • Managing the support and development responsibilities required of the team ensuring 24/7 support is available where required.
  • Making decisions in time-bound situations ensuring the stability of the site and service to our customers is paramount to the decision.
  • Taking ownership of issues and development deliverables in a managerial capacity seeing them through from start to finish.
  • Ensuring successful and timely delivery of development works for the defined areas of the process you are responsible for.
