Compensation: $115k - $130k base salary + annual performance bonus

EXPECTED OUTCOMES AND REQUIREMENTS

Coast has identified the need for an Solar Engineer to play a pivotal role in the technical development of solar and storage projects across both early and late-stage project development. Responsibilities include:

Early-Stage Origination Support:

  • Generate preliminary system layouts and high-level production models to support Coast's Origination and project finance teams
  • Conduct site evaluations and site walks, providing technical support during initial project phases
  • Collaborate with Coast's Origination team to offer engineering and economic-based solutions that directly impact project success
  • Analyze customer interval data in assessing solar and energy storage opportunities
  • Assist in evaluating the benefits of adding BESS to solar projects from a cost/benefit perspective
  • Explore and become knowledgeable about solutions that include solar, energy storage and generating capacity in a microgrid environment
  • Research industry trends, new equipment, and evolving codes and standards to ensure the latest knowledge is integrated into designs

Mid-Stage Development & Operating Support:

  • Develop layouts, Single Line Diagrams (SLD), and detailed production models to support Coast's Development and Opterations teams.
  • Assist in the evaluation and selection of equipment and materials
  • Help establish cost database for major project materials for solar and energy storage systems
  • Establish company level layout and design specifications and system cost analysis methodology
  • Assist in the evaluation of contractor bids and advise on the accuracy of project estimates
  • Work with coats Operations team to create and maintain a BESS cost sheet for accurate financial modeling
  • Work with Coasts Assesst Management team to create and maintain long-term BESS operating & augmentation/replacement costs for accurate financial modeling

Field Work and Travel:

  • Prepared and excited to be in the field as necessary for site evaluations and walks
  • Attend industry conferences and maintain industry connections with manufacturers and vendors
  • Include periodic travel to office if remote, Tue-Thursday in office, if local

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of PV design and project estimating experience for C&I projects at a solar EPC, including C&I rooftop, carports, ground-mounts
  • Experience with BESS coupled with solar strongly preferred, stand-alone BESS a plus
  • Proficiency with PV design and production modeling tools such as PVsyst, Helioscope, AKRA 360, PVCAD, PVcase, etc.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Energy Tool Base
  • Experience performing site walks and site evaluations
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized individual
  • Innovative and organized self-starter with the ability to work autonomously
  • Trustworthy, empathetic, and relationship-oriented individual
  • Energetic and driven personality who thrives in a high-paced, dynamic, small-company environment
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and NABCEP certification preferred
