Under the direction of the Director(s) of Special Education, the Special Education Coordinator, develops, coordinates, and assists in supervising programs for special education students. Provides leadership in articulating and coordinating campus programs and ensuring compliance of State and Federal guidelines/regulations.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree preferred, but not required
Special Education Certification
Three years of experience in Special Education
Strong communication skills
Knowledgeable in State and Federal Special Education Regulations
Responsibilities

Assists in the implementation of special education programs at the assigned campuses; confers with campus Director and Regional Director(s) of Special Education
Confers with Campus Directors prior to campus exit
Submits email summaries of campus visits within 24 hours of the visit.
Submits reports for legally required data as requested by the Regional Director(s) of Special Education.
Assists in maintaining compliant district special education programs with state and federal laws
Assists in the acquisition of curricular resources and related services
Assists special education personnel in developing instructional objectives and techniques for implementing IEP’s for individuals with exceptional needs
Assists parents in participating in the special education process including but not limited to IEP development and recommendations for additional resources
Assists special education personnel in the development and implementation of meaningful Individual Transition Plans for students with disabilities
Assists with staff development for Special Education teachers
Assists campus Directors in co-chairing IEP meetings as necessary
Assists in monitoring special education caseload and class size
Terms Of Employment
Salary and benefits in accordance with a compensation program recommended by the administration and approved by the Board of Directors.
Evaluation
Performance evaluated by a direct supervisor in accordance with a Board of Directors approved policy on Evaluation of Administrative Employee.
Other Abilities
Regular district-wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned.

Other abilities include maintaining emotional control under stress, maintaining professional interactions, leadership, multitasking, and performing under tight deadlines.
May require occasional prolonged and irregular hours
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
