Position Summary
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Sports Information Department and management of the USM Athletic Department social media channels and website (GoSpires.com), including producing game recaps, assisting in live video streaming of home athletic events, maintenance of university athletic photo library, and serving as an in-game statistician.
Other duties may be assigned by the VP of Athletics and Marketing Office.
Essential Functions
Supervise Graduate Assistants.
Write, edit, proof, and post content to the university athletics website and social media pages (e.g., Instagram, Twitter, Facebook). Maintain athletics website for the department with current rosters, schedules, results, statistics, game recaps, and sponsor advertising.
Partner with coaches to produce game and athletic programs.
Produce game recaps and other announcements related to student-athlete and athletic staff achievement.
Assist in live video streaming of home athletic events.
Serve as or delegate role of in-game statistician for all home athletic contests.
Manage Athletic Department social media accounts.
Assign photographers to home athletic events and occasional road contests.
Organize team media days.
Develop social media video content.
Manage statistical and photo library for the athletic programs.
Coordinate and cultivate relationships with local media.
Serve as the liaison between the University of Saint Mary Sports Information Department and the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference and the NAIA. Responsible for preparing nominations for various honors for the NAIA, KCAC, and CoSIDA associations.
Provide continual evaluation of trends and technologies to enhance the university’s online presence.
Conduct postgame interviews with athletes and coaches.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required
Previous experience in sports information, marketing communications, or related fields preferred
Previous supervisory experience preferred
Demonstrated ability in digital media content production, including writing for the web and video
Excellent communication skills
Excellent proofreading skills
Proven ability to distill complex issues into clear, concise, and engaging content
Effective interpersonal skills for successful collaboration
Past experience with statistical software preferred
Past experience with video streaming platforms is preferred
