Reporting to the Vice President for Innovation, Strategy & Partnerships, the Senior Alumni Engagement Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to cultivate and engage alumni, enhance their affinity with SIT, and strengthen their support for institutional initiatives. Examples of these institutional initiatives include developing pathways for our alumni to continue their education with SIT (undergraduate to graduate, graduate to doctoral, etc.) as well as exploring the creation of an Alumni Council. SIT alumni are doing amazing work in their careers all around the world and we believe creating a strong alumni base can help our current students prepare for their own careers in exciting ways. The Senior Alumni Engagement Officer will join an outgoing team of university relations and custom and signature programs staff and will work closely with the World Learning Director of Alumni & External Engagement. This role requires a dynamic individual with excellent communication, relationship-building, and strong organizational skills, as well as a passion for international education, higher education, and alumni relations.

This position can either be based in Brattleboro, Vermont or from a home office at an approved location within the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Vice President of Innovation, Strategy & Partnerships to develop and execute comprehensive alumni engagement strategies aligned with SIT's institutional goals and priorities.
  • Alumni Outreach: Proactively reach out to alumni through various channels, including email campaigns, social media, events, and personal outreach, to maintain regular communication and build strong relationships.
  • Event Management: Plan, promote, and execute a diverse range of alumni events (virtual and in-person), including reunions, networking receptions, and career workshops to connect alumni with each other and with SIT.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other internal departments and units across SIT/World Learning, such as the World Learning Director of Alumni & External Engagement, Philanthropy, Marketing & Communications, Career Services, and the Provost's Office, to identify opportunities for alumni involvement and support, including guest speaking opportunities, fundraising, mentoring, and school partnerships. Additionally, this position will serve as a member of the Alumni Engagement Working Group, a cross-organizational committee dedicated to alumni affairs.
  • Alumni Ambassador Program: Collaborate with the admissions team to enhance the Alumni Admissions Ambassador Program, leveraging alumni networks to support student recruitment efforts and offer prospective students valuable insights into the student experience.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate records of alumni and alumni engagement activities, interactions, and preferences using the SIT's alumni database (Salesforce), and utilize data analytics to measure the effectiveness of engagement efforts and inform future strategies. Work collaboratively with the World Learning Director of Alumni and External Engagement on alumni-related data governance issues and increasing efficiencies using available technology and the CRM Salesforce platform.
  • Communication: Develop compelling content for alumni communications, including newsletters, website updates, social media posts, and alumni publications, to keep alumni informed and engaged with SIT and World Learning news, events, and achievements. Manage the SIT Alumni LinkedIn Community and work with the Alumni Engagement Working Group on an annual alumni communications calendar.
  • Alumni Council Research: Conduct research and explore the development of an SIT alumni council that would comprise alumni representatives from all alumni areas (SIT Study Abroad, SIT Graduate Institute, IHP, etc.). Research how other alumni councils function, including the nomination and selection process, terms, and the parameters for the alumni council's collaboration with the institution's leadership.
  • Project Management: Standardize 'end of program content' for all undergraduate programs to be included in the Standard Procedures Handbook. Launch an Alumni Referral Award program allowing alumni to 'give' a scholarship to a future SIT student.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or their designee.
