The Opportunity

The eBay Collectibles Team is looking for a Senior Category Manager of Sports Memorabilia to define the category strategy and to deliver our GMB and profit goals. You will work externally with sellers and brands as well as internally with Product Teams, Marketing, and Analytics to drive our business goals. Alongside the Collectibles Team, you will grow our selection, improve our trust with customers (buyer and sellers), and deliver the best possible collecting experience.

What You Will Accomplish

  • Category Strategy. Develop and implement the annual operating plan for the category.
  • Grow Selection. Create a selection strategy and work with Business Development as well as existing sellers to grow the number of listings on eBay.
  • Improve Buyer and Seller Trust. Manage eBay's buyer and seller trust metrics through projects that help customers feel more comfortable buying and selling on eBay.
  • Improve the Customer Experience. Work with consumer insights, sellers, and buyers to identify customer struggles and then work cross functionally with the product team to improve the buyer and seller experience.
  • Business Reporting: Investigate the business to understand the key levers/drivers and report on the business critical metrics including conversion rate, ASP, top buyer/seller growth, listings growth, lead time, CSAT and more on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. Responsible for leading WBR, MBR, QBR conversations and documenting your recommendations and next steps on execution.
  • Marketing: Provide input into return on investment positive marketing onsite and offsite including paid investments and exhibitions (booths as shows). Monitor traffic, conversion, and findings ensuring there is a clear value for every investment that is non-awareness based. Responsible for identifying selection and promotions necessary to support campaigns.
  • Site Merchandising: Responsible for defining a 52-week calendar outlining key retail moments, and seasonal events where eBays should show up on the homepage and category pages (Ex. Superbowl) - partnering with the merchandising team to develop events that generate relevancy, visibility, and GMV growth.


What You Bring

  • Demonstrated experience with growing responsibility as a general manager in an online retail or marketplace environment, ideally within a startup!
  • Prior experience optimally leading and encouraging diverse teams
  • Passion for the Sports Memorabilia category & experience in the space and/or relationships with key industry players
  • Experienced at negotiating with third parties in sophisticated negotiations
  • Execution-driven, growth-oriented, ownership mindset to drive performance against critical metrics
  • Ability to lead groups of individuals effectively and manage cross-functional coordination
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills


The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.

$126,800 - $187,550

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
