We are a leading Environmental Services and Building Automation organization with headquarters in Philadelphia. Due to growth, we are adding a skilled and experienced Controls Optimization Engineer to the BAS and Energy Management team. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree, proven experience in HCAV systems, energy efficiency, and controls optimization.

What You Will Be Doing
Conduct on-site assessments in prospective buildings, collaborate with solutions engineers, BAS Techs, Smart Buildings Groups to ensure controls ECMs are evaluated for total energy savings
Define scopes and pricing for BAS driven energy conservation measures, assist in client facing presentation
Design and develop comprehensive building automation strategies, optimize HVAC systems and energy consumption, conduct evaluations of existing BAS (controls, components, sequences of operation)
Collaborate cross-functionally, gather requirements, develop specifications, implement system enhancements
Lead system commissioning efforts, ensure proper installation, configuration, functionality of building automation
controls, perform detailed analysis of system performance data, identify trends and areas for improvement
Develop and implement control modifications to enhance energy efficiency and operational reliability
Provide technical guidance/mentorship to junior engineers and techs in the organization
Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements, deliver tailored solutions to meet their objectives
Act as subject matter expert on building automation systems/energy management controls, provide insights and recommendations to stakeholders as needed
Experience in service, maintenance, repair, replacement costs over life cycle of BAS
Strategic financial planning over life cycle of BAS
What You Need
Bachelors degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, controls engineering or equivalent experience, training and education
7+ years designing, implementing, optimizing building automation systems and energy management controls
Proficiency in industry-standard building automation protocols: Haystack, BACnet, Modbus Strong understanding of HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, air handling units, variable frequency drives (VFDs).
Demonstrated experience in system commissioning, troubleshooting, performance optimization, analytical and problem-solving skills
Relevant industry certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), or Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP) are highly preferred.
Experience with ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) or Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) is a plus.
Experience in the following areas: Defining scopes of energy conservation measures, Determining installation estimates, Estimation of annual energy savings, Salesforce, energy best practices/codes (ASHRAE, IESNA, NEC etc.)
Operational experience with electrical installations, low voltage, power source, panel build/install, communications trunks, controls construction documentation and processes: RFIs, submittals, specifications, testing
Operational experience with HVAC system types: VAVs, VVTs, Dual Duct, four/two-pipe FCU, Heat Pumps, chillers, boilers, developing controls solutions, writing scopes and sequences for bid
Familiar with: pneumatics, inlet vanes and ability to upgrade to DDC, integration methods and what data can be pulled from third party equipment, ALC product line, BAS systems, sensors and instrumentation for system architecture
Ability to read drawings, schedules, common control loops, optimization strategies for valves, meters, airflow-stations, tuning PID loops
Project management fundamentals, can work effectively across large geographic and diverse customer portfolio
Demonstrated performance working with solution providers to provide energy/utility performance improvements in commercial, industrial, health facilities. ASHRAE Level III and preconstruction experience, perform assessments from inception to contract
Advanced building services knowledge such as mechanical, HVAC, Building Automation System, electrical, lighting
Ability to travel, perform after hours work when needed
