Position Summary:

We are looking for someone with strong data analytics skills who is passionate about telling stories through data.


This position is in our public safety practice, where you will work with our police and fire clients to better serve their communities, to be more reflective of the communities they serve, and to be more trusted by people of all backgrounds. Examples of the types of projects you will work on include:

  • In Phoenix, we projected future population growth and used GIS to determine the optimal locations for new Fire Department stations.
  • We worked with the Los Angeles Police Department on a redistricting study to better align police deployment with community needs and to address service level inequities.
  • With the San Francisco Police Department, we created an interactive resource allocation model to guide staffing decisions across the entire organization.
  • No two projects are the same. Our work is multidisciplinary and requires creative problem-solving to develop solutions for our clients’ needs.


Responsibilities:

  • Work in a collaborative environment to assist our police and fire clients.
  • Use client datasets to analyze workload, service levels, disparities, and staff capacity.
  • Create visualizations and mapping analysis using GIS applications.
  • Build analytical models to develop solutions for our clients.
  • Review findings and conclusions with clients.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel abilities.
  • Python, R, PowerBI, and/or Tableau skills are preferred.
  • Adept-level GIS skills are preferred, and advanced-level skills are a plus.
  • Strong data visualization abilities.
  • Experience in law enforcement or fire/EMS agencies, or an academic background in these fields, is a plus.
  • Effective communication skills, including in presentations.
  • The ability to work collaboratively and flexibly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.
  • The position is remote – the ability to work independently in a remote environment is required.


Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base salary range of $73,000 - $108,000 (Senior Consultant) depending on experience.
