The Tesla Energy Products team is bringing battery and solar technology to the grid to facilitate a renewable energy ecosystem and redefine the way the world will use energy in the future. As part of the Thermal Architecture team, you are the design lead that defines and designs the thermal systems that make Tesla Energy products like Megapack, Supercharger and Powerwall world class. This role involves collaboration with designers, engineering, manufacturing, firmware and service and requires the ability to apply engineering fundamentals to model and design thermal systems that are at the core of Tesla’s success. What You'll Do
Support programs through the entire life cycle including spec development, modeling, prototype builds, test, and productionDevelop CFD and thermal models to simulate system performance of HVAC components to meet system requirements while optimizing for efficiency and costPerform high level system trade offs between different thermal design solutions to optimize for battery life and system costDevelop and execute component and subsystem design verification plans and test methods to validate product adherence to requirements
What You'll Bring
Fluency in the use of analytical simulation tools for thermal analysis, including Matlab and CFD softwareExperience modeling and testing thermal components, examples include fans, pumps, compressors, fluid connections, heat sinks, heat exchangersDegree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experienceStrong fundamentals in heat transfer, thermodynamics and fluid mechanicsDemonstrable motivation and ability to solve novel, difficult thermal design problemsCFD Modeling experiencePassion for renewable energy
