Staff Accountant

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting department in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role involves managing daily financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Record daily financial transactions, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Support the processing of invoices, payments, and collections; manage vendor and customer accounts.
• Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts, and monitor variances.
• Provide support during internal and external audits, including preparing necessary documentation and reports.
• Ensure adherence to accounting principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and report on departmental and operational expenses.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
• Perform other accounting tasks and projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1-3+ years of accounting experience; experience in a dealership or automotive industry is a plus.

Skills:

• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Work Environment:

• Office environment with occasional remote work opportunities.
• May require occasional overtime during peak periods, such as month-end close.
