$75,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr
Thuma is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our growing Finance & Accounting team to help develop strong workflows and streamline month-end close related processes. In this role, you will be responsible for owning and improving several areas relating to the general ledger, month-end close, year-end audit preparation, and financial reporting. We are looking for someone who can create process efficiencies and has the ability to develop strong relationships across the company. Thuma’s Headquarters is based in the historic Presidio neighborhood of San Francisco.This role is flexible and can be based in San Francisco or remote. Candidates must be able to work PST hours. Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for month-end close journal entries and account reconciliations with a primary focus on cash, accounts payable, fixed assets, prepaid assets, and accrued expenses
  • Review monthly G&A expense accounts for completeness and accuracy, ensuring that expenses are coded correctly
  • Support the accounting team’s commitment to timely and accurate processing of accounting transactions in accordance with US GAAP
  • Create and/or improve account reconciliations with a mindset of continuous improvement
  • Support the annual external audit by responding to audit requests, gathering support, and preparing schedules
  • Support the team in documenting and updating standard operating procedures
  • Build monthly reports that give the team and overall company insight into various account activities
  • Leverage NetSuite to find automation opportunities to streamline recurring processes


This Might Describe You:

  • 1-3 years of accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Understanding of US GAAP and internal controls and the ability to research and interpret accounting guidance
  • Strong analytical skills to research and resolve issues in data sets and analyze month-over-month variances
  • Strong collaboration skills and an impeccable eye for detail
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects in a high-growth environment
  • A self-starter who gets things done with a sense of urgency and minimal supervision
  • A desire to grow and accept more responsibility as Thuma continues to expand into different markets and channels


Recommended but not required:

  • Experience working for a company that sells inventory in the retail or eCommerce space
  • Netsuite experience
  • An active CPA license
  • Big 4 & Audit experience
