Job Summary:
We are a profitable, privately held company with zero debt, seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to play a crucial role in the day-to-day financial operations of the organization. This position involves maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and assisting in various accounting tasks to ensure the financial health and compliance of the company. This role is also accountable for preparing financial statements and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

In this role, you will be accountable for:
- General Accounting: Maintain accurate and complete financial records, including the general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports. Ensure financial reports are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
- Reconciliations: Perform account reconciliations, including bank statements, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Review, analyze and reconcile vendor customer accounts.
- Month-End and Year-End Closing: Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes. Prepare and review account reconciliations and journal entries.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting principles (GAAP or IFRS) and company policies. Assist in the preparation of documentation for audits.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets. Provide support in the preparation of financial forecasts.
- Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain internal control policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of financial reporting. Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct basic financial analysis to support business decisions. Provide financial data and insights to the management team as needed.
- Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the finance team as required. Assist with special projects and process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field.
- 1 to 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the CPG industry and start-up environment experience
- Has worked 100% remote
- Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) or IFRS.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Microsoft Excel – intermediate level
Desired Skills:
- Experience with ERP systems. NetSuite a plus
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position working remotely with standard office hours.
- Occasional overtime may be required during peak financial periods such as month-end and year-end closing.
