Staff Writer

Haymarket Media, Inc. is seeking a Staff Writer to join the McKnight’s Long-Term Care News team. This position may be located out of either our Northbrook, IL, or New York City offices and candidates in these areas are preferred, but we are also open to remote candidate matches.

McKnight’s Long-Term Care News, the leading B2B magazine and news service for the post-acute care sector, seeks an ideal candidate with exceptional news writing skills, experience with a variety of social media tools and platforms — and an ability to quickly grasp the nuances of industry-related issues. This person must be able to craft copy that is concise, clear, interesting and, above all, accurate. Other required attributes include curiosity, a devotion to meeting deadlines, excellent editing/language skills, a willingness to constantly improve and a good sense of humor.

Responsibilities Include

• Daily news research and writing
• Writing topic-specific news stories for the monthly magazine
• Updating material on our website and other digital platforms
• Writing periodic features and blogs
• Assisting with custom projects, including eventual webinar moderation
• Working with editors on long-term care conference coverage
• Applicants are not necessarily expected to have extensive knowledge of long-term care issues, but must demonstrate a basic grasp of healthcare policy and show a willingness to learn.
  
  

Qualifications

• Ability to quickly write short, targeted articles
• Ability to set and meet deadlines and work independently on multiple projects
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, fun environment
• Minimum of 2 to 4 years editorial experience preferred
• A team-player mindset and a proactive attitude
• Editing proficiency a must
• Expertise on Google Suite
• Social media best practices knowledge and posting proficiency
• WordPress, InDesign experience helpful
• Familiarity with marketing automation platforms preferred
• Ability to act as an ambassador for McKnight’s
• Ability to travel to select industry events as required
