State Street Global Advisors - US Defined Benefit Investment Strategist, Officer

We are seeking a US Defined Benefit (DB) Investment Strategist to join the newly created Defined Benefit Investment Strategy team with primary responsibility to increase State Street’s US Defined Benefit market share.

As an integral part of State Street’s US Retirement Team within the Chief Business Officer (CBO), the US DB Investment Strategist will help the team ensure a superior product offering and client support model. Specifically, working in partnership with State Street’s Client Coverage Group (CCG) and Investment organization, you will support adoption of State Street investment solutions within DB plans and related transactions (e.g. OCIO, PRT).

You will use your investment, sales, and entrepreneurial skills to create analysis highlighting the value of our offerings, targeted messaging and sales ideas, and support materials for plan sponsors and consultants. Further, as a member of the Retirement team, the Investment Strategist will support other Retirement teams, as needed, to further the growth of the business including the Public Policy, Participant Engagement, and Independent Fiduciary teams. In this role you will be working within a high-functioning, fast-paced team environment.

The role is based in Boston, MA.

As a US Defined Benefit Investment Strategist, You Will

  • Monitor and update team on industry trends and competitive developments with the goal to identify new sales opportunities and product innovation
  • Create analysis highlighting the value of SSGA investment strategies vis-à-vis competitors
  • Undergo research and present analysis to other members of DB team and Client Coverage Group
  • Partner with internal teams (e.g. RFP team) to increase sales effectiveness
  • Provide support, as needed, to the Retirement Business (Product Strategy, DC Investment Strategy, Independent Fiduciary, Public Policy, & Participant Engagement teams), which includes providing backup support to the Defined Contribution sales process
  • Demonstrate aptitude and desire to deepen understanding of US Retirement plan landscape with a particular emphasis on Defined Benefit plans


Education & Qualifications

  • 1 - 5 years’ financial services experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Enthusiasm for the industry, a positive attitude, and a drive to succeed
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets
  • Strong critical thinking skills with ability to frame business issues and apply data analysis to support strategic decision-making
  • Ability to learn quickly and demonstrate industry and product knowledge
  • Ability to build relationships within our team, across our organization, and with our clients
  • Strong aptitude for multi-tasking and producing required reports within short timelines.

$65,000 - $102,500 Annual
