On behalf of our client, DMT Clear Gas Solutions (CGS), we are seeking a talented Procurement Professional to join their team in the Chicago area. This is a hybrid position at the company’s location in Schaumburg, IL.

POSITION OVERVIEW

In the role as Strategic Buyer, you will be part of the Global Supply Chain Team, and report hierarchically to the Procurement Manager at the headquarters in the Netherlands, and “dotted line” to the VP of Service and Delivery/GM in the U.S. It will be your goal to efficiently source goods and services at the best possible value while maintaining quality standards, and ultimately optimizing supply chain operations. You aim to streamline procurement processes, negotiate favorable terms, and mitigate risks to ensure timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.

While the DMT CGS team is going through the development phase, you will intermittently also be a primary point of contact for Customer Service.

Total expected travel time is estimated 10-20%, primarily domestic to visit suppliers, but may also include some to Europe for onboarding, collaboration, and training.



TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Procurement (approximately 75%)

  • Contracting / Price Agreements: This involves negotiating and finalizing contracts with vendors or suppliers. It includes setting terms, conditions, and pricing to ensure favorable agreements for the organization.
  • Forecasting / Inventory Management: Forecasting entails predicting future demand for products or materials. Inventory management focuses on maintaining optimal stock levels, minimizing excess inventory, and avoiding shortages.
  • Supply Chain Optimization: This responsibility aims to enhance the efficiency of the supply chain. It involves streamlining processes, reducing costs, and improving overall performance from sourcing to delivery.
  • Process Monitoring: Monitoring purchasing processes ensures compliance with established procedures. It involves tracking orders, Purchase-tot-Pay, evaluating vendor performance, and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Supplier Performance Measurement: Assessing supplier performance is crucial. It includes evaluating quality, delivery timeliness, support, and responsiveness to address any issues promptly.
  • Complaint Handling and Resolution: Handling purchases, deliveries, or product quality complaints. Resolving issues promptly maintains positive relationships with vendors and ensures customer satisfaction.
  • Projects: Purchasing projects may involve large-scale purchases, system implementations, or supply chain & process improvements. Project management skills are essential to execute these initiatives successfully.


Customer Service (approximately 25%)

  • Customer Liaison: Acting as a primary interface with our customers. Directing customers to the appropriate departments when required. Providing professional and timely responses to customer inquiries and requests.
  • Service Message / Order Entry: Entering customer inquiries and requests into the electronic business system for processing. Accurately entering sales orders into the electronic business system and monitoring them to ensure proper fulfillment and delivery.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Maintaining a positive customer experience by providing an exceptional level of customer service through responsiveness to inquiries, accuracy, and completeness of information, and proactive updates regarding orders and requests.
  • Complaint Handling & Resolution: Handling customer complaints related to orders, deliveries, and quality of service. Resolving customer concerns and issues promptly to both maintain and improve customer relations.
  • Cross-functional Coordination: Working cross-functionally with project managers, service team engineers, and other DMT departments to properly service our customers while meeting the needs of our organization

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher. A technical background or study is considered a plus. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role and industry.
  • Experience with and in-depth knowledge of sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, and procurement processes.
  • Experienced at analyzing market trends, managing supplier relationships, and optimizing cost-efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
  • Ability to navigate complex supply chains, ensuring compliance with regulations, and mitigating risks.
  • Excellent communication skills; proficiency in English (both spoken and written).
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, strategic thinking, business acumen.
  • Team player, collaboration, knowledge-sharing
  • Proficient computer skills, MS Office (Excel, Powerpoint).
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of which some international travel, primarily for onboarding and training.
